Bolly good with Abhishek and friends

Pop went the champagne to celebrate the pop-art and pop-up book on Bollywood.

Aptly, a cutting edge design store was the chosen venue for this Tuesday night soiree.

Hosts Padmini Mirchandani along with Malini Akerkar and Ali Mamaji were there to bring alive the bounce of the book that was, in essence, all about the magic of making movies.

Photographer Sheena Sippy, writer Naman Ramachandran and designer Divya Thakur, instrumental in putting the book together, were all smiles, especially when their starry guest Abhishek Bachchan — complete with his cool blue jacket and hairband and mischief in his eyes — interacted with the trio.

Sheena evoked much mirth as she read out a proposal letter from a smitten fan of Abhishek, while Sooni Taraporevala read out a message from Mira Nair who could not make it to the celebration.

Bollywood’s presence was further strengthened with guests like Ramesh Sippy, Kunal Kapoor who received a big hug from Abhishek, Rohan Sippy and Anurag Kashyap. Relaxing on a sofa was Ravi Krishnan while wife Bandana Tiwari circulated among the crowd as did designers Pria Kataria Puri, James Ferreira and Narendra Kumar Ahmed (with Kadambari Lakhani by his side).

Also present were wineman Rajeev Samant, Devieka and Suresh Bhojwani and Remu and Naaz Zaveri.
