Malawi Adoption Official To Visit Madonna

Malawi Adoption Official To Visit Madonna

Madonna and her husband Guy Ritchie are preparing for a house visit from a Malawian court appointed official. The director of Malawi’s child welfare services, Penston Kilembe, said financial and administrative difficulties had prevented him from traveling to London for an earlier scheduled visit, but he should arrive no later than September 7th.

This is the second time that Madonna has prepared for the court appointed visit that is to determine if she can legally adopt David Banda. As previously reported, Madonna’s attempts to adopt the young boy ran into trouble when it became public knowledge that the boy’s father was still alive and living in Malawi.

Madonna first saw the 23-month-old child when he was living in the Home Of Hope Orphan Care Center in Malawi after his mother died. The adoption process was proceeding smoothly until media reports found out that David’s father was still around. Since then, the Malawian courts have delayed the approval process.

However, according to Kilembe, there may have been a recent change of heart as, “there has been a change of mind by my government minister and she has allowed me to leave for the UK on September 4 and I am expected to spend two weeks.”
