The Best of Dimple Kapadia

In every man's heart, there is a secret nerve that answers to the vibrations of beauty, said American poet and novelist, Christopher Morley.

He may have met Dimple Kapadia.

From Bobby to Leela, the luminous star of Hindi films continues to wow her admirers with her exquisite charm and sublime grace.

In a career spanning more than three decades, her oeuvre boasts of both sensitive and hard-hitting portrayals. Sure, there is an odd Paatal Bhairavi and Zakhmi Aurat too.

Even so, Dimple took it all -- the good, bad and ugly, in her stride with remarkable elegance.

On June 8, the ravishing star turns gold. Also, at 50, she's perhaps one of the most stunning mom and grandmom ever.

rediff.com celebrates the ever-so beautiful Dimple by taking a look at some of her best work through the years.

Bobby (1973)

It marked the beginning of a phenomenon called Dimple Kapadia.

Raj Kapoor's sprightly romance between two teenagers co-starring son, Rishi was a massive hit. Dimple's trendy wardrobe and cute hairstyles became a huge rage, making her a fashion icon of sorts.

Barely 16, the Bobby girl gave it all up to marry Rajesh Khanna, nation's biggest heartthrob back then.

Unlike her debut, the marriage wasn't a success.
